Dual Status
Civilian Employees.
Here is an
update on the status of the negotiations impacting you.
The Union
Negotiating team has been working diligently and we are
really putting a lot of effort into this I&I to make sure
you are treated fairly and you get the most possible. At the
same time, AFGE Locals from around the country have united
in the fight against Civilians being forced to wear Military
Uniforms. AFGE National has finally joined in the battle and
we have a collective law suit against AFRC in the works
right now. Everyone knows that this situation is foolish and
very costly to the tax payer as well. Not only that, in a
time where cut backs are the norm, and saving money is
imperative, this would be an extremely costly situation for
the Gov't if the results pan out the way we want them to.
AFGE Local
1869 is in the process of putting together a Lunch and Learn
for the Dual Status Civilian Employees of Charleston AFB,
Please check back often for more up to date information on
this subject.

I have
recently sent an e-mail to all the Dual Status Civilian
Employees at Charleston AFB SC. Some of you may not have
received it for one reason or another, so I am going to post
the heart of the message right here so you have
another avenue of attack available to you. I hope you send a
message to your representatives, this is going to be the
most powerful way for you to communicate your disinterest in
the wearing of the military uniform while in civilian
status. I have emphasized the words NOW and NEED several
times below. They are important in this issue.
I NEED your attention for a minute,
The issue of civilian dual status employees is most
likely being
presented or going to be presented to congress shortly. The laws may change.
YOU NEED TO ACT NOW !!!.
You NEED to contact your Senators and your Congressmen
NOW. If you contacted them before, do it again. Hand write them letters telling them about your
displeasure with the fact that YOU as a civilian should
not wear the Military Uniform while working as a
civilian. Tell them why……You NEED to let them know why
you should not wear the military uniform. If you don’t
act on this, the law could be passed. You may NOT have a
choice. Hand writing a letter to these people could
possibly have more impact then a typed letter with a
signature.
Here are the links with their contact information: Do It
NOW, Don't Delay, time is short.
Senators
Congressmen
I am trying to help you as much as I can, but you need
to be involved as much as you can. After all this is
your lives we are talking about and your working
conditions.
I hope you understand and will make the effort to help
yourselves as much as we have been trying to help you
from this office. This is no joke folks, get active NOW,
TODAY, to stop this horrendous act.
Thanks
